Honestly unsure do i count it as 4th on goal difference as half points don't exist in real league tables and a theoretical league table would need rounding or say 5th as it's 0.5 point below

Impossible to do so in the Europa League now.
November 13, 2025 at 7:45 PM
We need to give this and there are players to come back of course.
November 13, 2025 at 7:43 PM
This is where but we are 5th stuff falls apart, people clearly are jumpy and thats with the points being broadly fine. Obviously the worst performances being at home is exacerbating that, but there is something that feels off even without pointing to any data.

Only Fergie, Jose and Pep have retained the PL. Real are the only side to retain the CL in the CL era. In the PL era only United and City have retained the league cup, Only four clubs have won consecutive FA Cups ever. (That one is wild)

To be clear I don’t think that makes them bad managers in any way they can and do incredible. work just doesn’t mean that it is the same at a club that is expected to have far more of the ball.
November 13, 2025 at 7:25 PM
I think there are elite mid table managers and elite club managers and we have seen throughout the Prem that being one doesn't mean you are the other see Moyes. It's still early and i want to be wrong but not really got anything so far to make me feel that my concerns when we were linked were wrong.

My fear remains that I think his football is just pretty conservative it was why i was skeptical on him whereas i was all in on Poch. This is not downplaying the work he did at Brentford as it was excellent but i did not see the ideas scaling where i always knew Poch would even in the tricky start.

When they were discussing what the priorities have been in the past this came to mind.
November 13, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Whats frustrating is it does aline with actually watching the games.

Most of the defensive improvement is having VDV & Romero back plus an improvement defending set pieces thrown in. Essentially they are so good that's really the biggest factor. Ange's defensive/out of posession structure was not good & our defence was fine with them thats how good they are.

We see this is a deliberate preference based on going for a destroyer profile over a passer in the summer.
November 13, 2025 at 7:05 PM
On Frank and approach, the issue i have is while acknowledging the injuries is i see a very rudimentary straight balls down the line, crosses and set pieces in attack. it's what his Brentford side played, if i were seeing more advanced & intricate ideas being poorly executed i would be less worried.
November 13, 2025 at 7:05 PM
I am going to be patient with Frank and hope he has some more advanced possession and final 3rd ideas, but the results feel like a mirage right now. My guess is performances improve and results get worse as we are playing that much worse than our results right now.

“The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It’s nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It is about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.” - Blanchflower

I think playing well leads to good results as we have seen through Poch our best modern side, playing this direct stuff is not going to get us back to that level, we have always highlighted style being an important part of our identity. The full context of the game is about glory makes that clear.
November 13, 2025 at 6:48 PM
Though everyone is different in how much they value the style stuff and i accept that not everyone does.
November 13, 2025 at 6:41 PM
I hope you are right and i am wrong just can't see this as remotely sustainable we are 18th for shots, plus on top of everything else i just don't enjoy watching it and think Spurs should be a front footed possession orientated attacking side in keeping with our history.
November 13, 2025 at 6:41 PM
I don't view a performance where we do nothing in open play and then just grab a goal off a set piece as a good performance regardless of result.
November 13, 2025 at 6:26 PM
Where would you have us? on the away performances we have run lucky, Leeds we were not good they were wasteful, Everton was an even game our first open play shot wasn't until the 65th minute. Even West Ham the game was even until the red. We are creating nothing in open play.
November 13, 2025 at 6:26 PM
Ironically our numbers are closer to relegation battle than they were over the totality of last season. They are better than during the collapse but they are worse than overall -0.38 xGD/90 from -0.12 xGD/90 and 1.15 xP/90 from 1.32 xP/90
November 13, 2025 at 6:10 PM
It's obviously excellent to have points collected as it gives us time to get good but its clearly the case watching we aren't good and the numbers are a lot closer to the performances to the results.
