i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, “A Grief Observed”

basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again.

i feel that with my dad.

Let's talk about books and the public trust.

📚🧵

Something that is easy to forget, in these days of barcode-scanning / auto-adjust pricing on third-party platforms for pennies plus shipping:

Booksellers are not merely people who sell some popular books in a competitive market.

you don't have to put on blackface to get social media attention. you can simply develop mild depression, join a menswear forum, spend the next 15 years arguing about pants, and then weaponize the knowledge against your enemies on social media.

I will never get over how a handful of tech bros set billions of dollars on fire to build a plagiarism machine that doesn't work and will destroy human society when they could have used a fraction of that money to fund a new golden age of creativity and knowledge.

"Midnight Man versus The Long Night" might just be my favourite story in my Midnight Man sequence (so far!). I hope you'll give it a read.

A bunch of my stories ripped off, and fed into the plagiarism machine. Wish I could set my characters on these thieving ghouls.
I hate this timeline.

Carpe Noctem and anthologies I’ve written for.

Attention policy makers: As a business owner in Canada, I could take advantage of pretty good tax breaks if I had a car. But I don’t want a car and choose to live where I don’t need one. That’s better for everyone.

But there are no tax breaks connected to my public transit pass.

That’s bad policy.
