Opinions expressed here may or may not be my own, depending on whether or not I’m asked to repeat them to a judge, my grandmother, or just a tipsy friend at a bar. In any case, It wasn’t me and I have an alibi. He/him pronouns, but I like yours too.
In times like these there seem to be a lot of decent folks genuinely wondering what happens next. I encourage each and every one of them to read Overthrow by Stephen Kinzer. The answer is right there.

Thanksgiving is over. Now the grim work of the lesser holidays begins.

I went into a shop in Santa Fe today that sells meteorite chunks and stuff like that. I told the proprietor that I think all rocks are space rocks and I don’t think he liked that.

I’ve heard some folks express surprise that the opposition to Mandani’s campaign was even more racist than the opposition to Kamala’s. Of course it was. Not having to split their time between racism and sexism really freed up their schedule to go whole hog on the racism.

Well, I wasn’t aware of it, so clearly it didn’t exist.
When idiot Ron Schneider was born in 1963, the infant mortality rate was 29/1,000. It is now close to 5/1,000. So, no, children were NOT healthier when he was a kid. And he was, clearly, dropped on his head.

That’s exactly what I expect. I expect to be taken care of, and to be expected to take care of others. That’s how this shit works. Human beings aren’t meant to do things alone.
And “don’t expect the world to take care of you” is the most capitalist, isolationist, individual exceptionalism bullshit I ever heard - posted on an app, on an internet, sitting in a chair, in a building, on a street, in a world made by other people FOR them. We ain’t got shit w/o our community.

Stickers are the greatest thing to ever happen to group text chats. As evidence, here is a shirtless Ryan Fitzpatrick cheering on my dog’s Halloween costume courtesy of a friend of mine.

Yeah, bro. The flattening of culture sucks, some of us don’t want to listen to nothing but cowbell music with a washboard accompaniment and eat unseasoned boiled potatoes. Also white replacement theory is bullshit.
going by the decor, is this not TGI Fridays?

You know how there’s been this big push towards encouraging older people to do puzzles, cognitive games, and to learn new things to keep them from succumbing to dementia?

Wonder where that’s gonna go with the rise of “outsource your cognitive functions to AI, it’ll be convenient” culture
Cognition is like strength. Use is required to not just gain, but maintain. The more thinking and cognitive work we offload, the duller we become as a result.

It's like deciding you'll use a mobility scooter without need and then figuring out a year later that you can no longer walk.

I strongly identify with John wick’s character. Not because I could kill anyone with a pencil, but because when I feel sad adopting a pit bull brings me a sense of peace that nothing else could.

I work on pools for a living and always carry a pouch of dog treats in case I need to pay the bridge troll. One of my customers dogs has been threatening me from the window for 3 years and today she got out while I was in the yard. One peanut butter Beggin strip and now we’re best friends.

The anti-fascist left will be thrilled to learn how well funded and organized they are. For a minute there I was worried that we’re all just a rag tag coalition of regular broke folks and anarchists inherently opposed to organizational hierarchy.
Everything makes a lot more sense when you realize that Stephen Miller is running the White House, and Trump is in the Epstein Files.

Call them fascists, loudly, ESPECIALLY right now.

Call yourself an antifascist, loudly, ESPECIALLY right now.

These people are imbeciles and despite what the increasingly conservative hijacked media would like you to believe, you’re not the only one who has noticed. This administration is widely hated and ridiculed at home and abroad. They need your capitulation, but your despair would be sufficient.

Defense officials were shocked at the cost and danger of assembling the military’s top officers to listen to meandering tirades.

I can’t stand seasonal decor, and today my wife bought a $90 door wreath(on sale, but still) decorative candles, a ceramic pumpkin and a few other pieces of future garbage. The only thing she passed on was a plaster bust of Edgar Allen Poe and that’s all I’ve ever wanted. I’m going back for it.

This has always been the plan. Trump, Netanyahu, Gulf rulers, and tech billionaires like Thiel & Musk are committing genocide and destroying Gaza so they can carve up the land to build tech-enabled authoritarian cities where they rule as kings.

This is not an exaggeration—they have a business plan.
🇮🇱 Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich: “There’s a business plan on Trump’s table to turn Gaza into a real estate bonanza.

We paid a lot of money for this war. Now we need to divide how we make a percentage. We did the demolition phase. Now we build. It’s much cheaper.”

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.
