I’m so sick of seeing Farage and co on TV all the bloody time. They now know that if thy hold a press conference on any day ending in a ‘y’, they will be given endless coverage and broadcasting hours. All this for a party that could fit all of its MPs into a hatchback car.

MORNING ALL!

Today is the 9th anniversary of the Brexit vote.

How do we all think it’s gone so far?

So, Labour’s core support is in metropolitan areas which are the most ethnically diverse parts of the country - I’m just a daft northern woman but making speeches attacking immigrants and their supposed negative impact on this country (yeah right) sounds like not the best of ideas

As a German I will forever be grateful to all who fought for the liberation of Europe.

But as a historian I am looking at front pages today and must wonder: What is the point of remembering #VEDay 80 years on, what is the point of our thanks, when we are failing to protect the sacrifices made? 🧵

Reform got 5 MPs at the GE, the Lib Dems got 72. So why the hell do Labour keep doing Reform Lite and not seeing the millions of us who want something different from the never ending macho, rule Britannia bollocks. Simple maths shows there are more of us in the centre/centre left than the right.

Even with the open goal of Reform infighting, Labour have today lost any slight chance they had of retaining Runcorn and Helsby. Not only are these proposed changes to benefits Tory and inhuman, they are a total vote loser in the sort of places where Labour can win. wtf are they thinking?

What a disgraceful state of affairs
UK drops down list of affluent nations after decade of stagnation.

Deindustrialization, austerity, low wages, profiteering, inequitable distribution of income take toll.

Poorest in West Midlands
worse off than counterparts in France, Malta, Slovenia.

Govts obsessed with the City neglect the rest.

Good to see Starmer finally grow a spine in supporting Ukraine. Unfortunately it just emphasises the utter shameless hypocrisy of supporting the Israeli government’s genocide in Gaza. C’mon Kier, I’m waiting….
