Half Life was VR- you simply observed it through a FLAT window. Monitors had no parallex or depth.

But it was always VR!

What is it to peer through a window Frame?

What is traditional gaming in 3D? Not stereoscopic tricks, but with parallax?

There is a terrible irony that my biggest most challenging bugs in gamedev relate to compliance rather than gameplay or the actual user experience.

We spend time as gamedevs making a decent UX bad after compliance forces a design.

I can't wait for even more rules!

Update went so well for not touching Meta's tech in Unreal Engine for nearly 6 months-

No errors on PC
Puppet sort of works but needs platform specific rotation
Hand tracking is PERFECT
Enhanced input works exactly same as Dualsense controller 🥳
Also need to fix floor calibration

No errors! Solid update but will have to test:

A) does my Meta specific hand tracking pipeline still work

B) do motion controllers still interface properly with my enhanced input system.

Have some menu issues to work out for sure with pawn locked in place but not a bad start!
We finally have an Unreal Engine 5.6.1 Meta XR plugin!

I will be testing Project Jump Scare with soon in Quest 3 with all my progress. This cuts out months of refactoring and I can use optimizations!!!

We finally have an Unreal Engine 5.6.1 Meta XR plugin!

Actually this is even cooler with fingers. There is a magic in seeing your real life body interacting in a digital world.

...different than the presence in full body VR avatars...

Since it is your own body influencing the simulation you don't feel that VR acclimation gap...🤔

I feel that seeing your real arms effect the world is more impactful compared to the traditional VR avatar now that I've made this work in Project Jump Scare

Am in love with this hybrid approach using Apple Vision Pro and wish I could make a passthrough body work on all platforms...

Steam Frame must first be a 2d traditional or 2.5D XR PC gaming interface so saturation is healthy enough to slice off the further niche interested in full immersive PCVR.

Dual Knit Apple Vision Pro strap is a bad look compared to the solo. Ruins the aesthetic and makes an already large device look huge. M5 model and strap should have been all black.

Apple is always the best at coming in late with winning design.

If Vision Pro is an iPad on your face Apple Glasses will be an Apple Watch on your face- released around the date Meta gets a binocular release.
