My daughter recently took the constitution test for school, a requirement in my state for 8th grade. She has to do it again senior year to graduate.
She overheard an Aaron Parnas news story I was listening to and asked "why did I have to learn the constitution if trump didn't?"
A 13yo gets it.

I’m a big, big fan of the writer knowing soooo much more than they ever put to paper. It allows the inclusion of character subtext and consistency across the story. Just because you don’t include backstory doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have one or know it well.
Can it be enjoyable to have backstory for a character even if you're the only one who will ever known it?
