1/I watched this full video yesterday with a genuine desire to understand the point of view of people that I fundamentally disagree with. I think that it is important in a democracy or any shared society to do that.

I came away from watching this video, somewhat shocked

Trump’s DOJ is demanding swaths of election data with no explanation.

Secretaries ‪@jenagriswold.bsky.social‬‬ and @sosmaggie.bsky.social‬ agree: given Trump's relentless attacks on democracy, it's a bad omen.

Senator Padilla was my colleague for many years. He is an intelligent, thoughtful, decent man who is just trying to stand up for the rights of his citizens and residence of his state. This is absolutely inexcusable. This is authoritarianism. Period.
Inexcusable!! Senator Padilla was forcibly removed for speaking up for his constituents.

The Senator from CA was doing his job as enshrined in the United States Constitution.

If this is how they treat a sitting Senator, how are they treating the children ICE is arresting?

Ironic that speaker Johnson thinks that agents of the fed gov’t shouldn’t be identified and expose themselves to potential doxxing, when two years ago, I testified before the Senate rules committee in a bipartisan group of election officials talking about the same issue. 1/2
We don’t need to back off the American Gestapo and we don’t need to respect its agents. People exercising state violence are not entitled to anonymity. Nor are the people directing the state violence.
MIKE JOHNSON: From the people who mandated mask wearing for years, it's absurd. They need to back off ICE & respect our agents

Q: So you're ok w/agents not identifying themselves when they're arresting migrants?

J: Why, so they can target them? So they can put names and faces online and dox them?

81 years ago, America's bravest generation stormed the beaches of Normandy in hopes of freeing Europe from the clutches of a brutal authoritarian.

Today, we face authoritarianism on our shores. We owe it to ourselves, our country, and that great generation to fight for freedom here at home.

So, whether or not AOC ends up in a higher post, I think this is something Democrats need to understand. She is out there, she is doing the work.
