Sub post to this one, no one bothered to mention that Black people have been here as long as the Spanish conquest, much less that they were caught, enslaved, and brought over pretty quickly once white European started settling here

5/ if we can’t agree on the fundamental nature of this country, then we certainly cannot have a debate. If I say the sky is blue and you say it’s red, what is there to debate about? That is the fundamentals of debate. You have to at least have one core fact that you agree on in order to debate.

4/ (sorry I posted these out of order. My bad.) but what genuinely surprised me was the group’s reaction to Mehdi not being willing to debate a self-described “fascist “who wants one more election and then autocracy from here on out.

3/ first of all, no one, not even Mehdi pointed out that people of color have been in this country as long as white people have. Actually, I take that back, a couple noted that indigenous people were here first and that the border crossed Mexico, not the other way around.

2/ but not about what you think I would be shocked about. It’s not surprising to me that so many people in this country have differing political opinions from mine.

What shocked me was the basic fundamental disagreement about what America is, its real history, and what it should be.

Giiiirl, don’t get me started. Just research how many claims to land that’s owned by others they have filed with county clerks all over the state for YEARS. Among other fun things. They are wild.

In New Mexico chile is both singular and plural. We don’t say “chiles” and we especially don’t spell it “chili” which is a dish with meat and beans and is also delicious but is not just a vegetable.

They’re both red and green. Red is the more ripened version of the green and has a smokier taste.
