This is actually cool and good
Deion Sanders jokes he “depends on Depends” and “if you see a Port-a-Potty on the sideline, it’s real.”

He also encourages everyone who is dealing with urinary struggles, and says “let’s stop being ashamed of it”

There's no gray area to who gets rights.

It's shitty to suggest we oppress anyone, period, but pragmatically, once you've scapegoated one community, you've invited the vampire in to un-people more communities.

That's how you sit there wondering why the leopard ate your face, too.

PSA ✊💡 Be Smart and #ShutTheFuckUp
Hasan Piker was detained by ICE and chose to talk to cops instead of shutting the fuck up.

Do not be like Hasan Piker. Be way smarter.

Never. Talk. To. Cops.

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

the order said “all.” not “limited.” they’re backpedaling now because people are furious. if they walk this whole thing back because the reporting caused a shitstorm they weren’t prepared for, you can thank marisakabas.bsky.social - who broke the story first - by subscribing here. I just did.

They suck! We’re mad at them! They are part of the everyone we mean when we say everyone deserves rights, dignity, respect, and safety!

No voting on who gets to be people
Even people who voted for this do not deserve to lose housing, healthcare, or food. I understand the temptation to think that when their actions hurt so many, but “people I do not like do not deserve to have their basic human needs met” is how we got here, and it will get weaponized against you

I've been on a midcentury mysteries kick of late. You know what common plot device disappears from whodunnits when no-fault divorce becomes widespread? The "(s)he will never grant me the divorce" motive for homicide. Just basically gone from the genre by the mid 1970s unless it's historical.
I'm not joking when I say that if they keep stripping women of rights, arsenic poisonings are going to go through the fucking roof.

Divorce is much cheaper.

Like the author of this article, I also am (was?) a huge Angel fan. But hen we love something, we look past the things that don’t sit right with us. This piece really articulates a lot of what has always bothered me about Angel (and, Buffy for that matter).
25 years later, @readingtheend.bsky.social still loves "Angel"--but we need to acknowledge the series' deeply troubling insistence that sex can't be meaningful or important unless it's hurting people. Let's discuss...

As an emergency physician from day 1 of the pandemic, who was offered a COVID vaccine the first week it was available, I had watched young, healthy people die in alarming ways, but I was worried about sticking this stuff into my arm that was approved under an emergency authorization. 1/
Today’s class session in my introductory public health class is going to be entirely devoted to an overview of how vaccines work and how they are researched and regulated. I believe it is my responsibility as a public health professor to share this information and be available to discuss questions.

Look, if you're going to come to me and attempt to explain why I should think some murdering is okay but other murdering is not, you've lost me.

I operate under the premise murder is wrong. War is just "sanctioned" murder that requires you to stop thinking some people are human beings, and no.

Not only are they not joking, they have quietly taken control of every single political system they can get their hands on. if a person can be elected, they're running for it and winning races no one takes seriously or looks at very hard.

like school boards.
One of the most important things you can do as an ally and as fighter of fascism is stop laughing at evangelical Christians and realize they mean every single word they say. They’re not funny, they’re absolutely terrifying. Take them extremely seriously and act accordingly.

Story 10 is done for StoryaDay May. (I forgot to update on Saturday, though I did write my 9th story that day.) Sunday was my usual day off, and I ended up taking yesterday off due to unusual circumstances. I try not to 2 days off in a row from writing, challenge or no, but coming back is key.

I'm so tired today. And I felt so un-creative. But I still managed to write my story for StoryaDay May and I'm so proud of myself. I was not sure I'd be able to do it, but I actually like what I came up with. Story 8 done! (Took yesterday off)

Day 8, Story 7 of StoryaDay May. Today's prompt was a about characters and power dynamics. It was a little more challenging but really interesting to work with. Another story complete!

I wasn't planning on posting about my StoryaDay progress all month, but I guess I have thoughts, and here we are. Today's prompt was to write a short story with the title longer than the story. Was not sure I'd be able to do this one, but I wrote a story as a couplet poem, and pretty quick, too.

Elsewhere in the world I just described the primary audience for The Dead Boy Detectives as "bisexual Millennial/Gen Z cottage goths," which might sound like a dig but honestly is not. It's a vibe and esthetic we could probably use more of.

I wrote my 5th story for StoryaDay May, after taking yesterday off. Today's prompt was to write a story that that included a list of words. I had a lot of fun with this one. I think it's easy to dislike these types of prompts but I always took them as a challenge and had fun with them.
