The house this morning smells of jasmine and elderflower (both wafting in from the neighbour’s gardens) with a tang of sea salt wafting in from the harbour.
It’s a great mixture and perfumers would do well to get down here to sniff

It's seedling watering time folks. A long day with rubbish news to end it, but if I keep watering them, in a few weeks I'll have sweet peas.

Green MP Francisco Hernandez shares his diary at COP30.

“We are one of the first countries to have developed a statutory requirement to draft adaptation plans and risk assessments and it is something that we are leading locally on with pilots like the South Dunedin Future project.”

I have bread rising and the small one and I just collected elderflowers that are now steeping for cordial. I also picked up two boxes of recycled jars from a friend's garage and will be making rhubarb jam tomorrow.

RNZB's "Nutcracker" was such a joy! Much whispering in my row - "jelly tips" "Kererū, obvs" "Oooh kōwhai". My suggestion that the nutcracker should have been a possum trapper in a Swanni called Trev was turned down, but I don't think I was wrong.

A great initiative from Te Tira Whakamātaki - peltswithpurpose.raiselysite.com/en/
What is unwanted here (possums) is a taonga (treasure) in Te Whenua-a-Moemoeā (Australia). Māori possum hunters supply Aboriginal communities (for cultural revitalisation). Donations enable rangatahi exchanges.

Work is having a dog cuteness competition and, as I am an expert in what makes animals cute (its a wee chunk of my previous research) should I offer my services as a judge and make sure that the Small One wins?

There is a garden tour happening today and a garden a few doors up is open to visitors. So a stream of people are also seeing me eating chocolate biscuits on the deck, or not seeing me and commenting, loudly, on the fence and espalier fruit trees .

Even if you don't have huge takes or don't feel madly informed, I am sure that your thoughts will be valuable. So just go for it!
