It is often forgotten, but Israel has been dropping bombs on Lebanon since October 8, 2023. I take a brief look at that forgotten front, where Israel has killed thousands of Lebanese civilians. Using recent Google Earth images, I discuss the war in southern Lebanon.

Said it before but I was verbally reprimanded for taking notes during a meeting where a humanitarian partner reported Israeli war crimes to us, because those notes meant we couldn't just sweep the report under the rug.

It doesn't really get reported in US media but the factions of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces are uniformed members of the Iraqi Security Forces and serve on Iraqi Ministry of Defense installations alongside Iraqi MoD personnel. And we don't act like it, but Iraq is a sovereign state.

I think it's important to see this acquisition as both a bridge from a fleet of aging (American) F-16s to a theoretical future fleet of (Turkish) KAANs, but also as a big political move in an era where Turkey is now one of NATO's biggest arms producers in an era of re-armament against Russia
Turkey has formally selected its next conventional aircraft - and, as has been long hinted, it is the Eurofighter Typhoon. This will be the first Turkish Air Force combat aircraft since WW2 that is not made in the United States. Delivery (which currently is limited to 20 aircraft) will take years.
