You know what else is an incredibly effective carbon sink that's often overlooked? Wetlands! Marshes especially are overlooked, with the whole "lack of trees" thing, much like grasslands.

But what makes a marsh so effective at storing carbon?
Fiiiine, apparently half my readers enjoy an info dump, so here we go!

Grasslands Sequester Carbon Too or “Why trees are not the be-all and end-all.”

Ahem. *takes a sip of water*
I THINK they’re mad because of the hardscaping? Not entirely sure.

(One guy tried to claim it didn’t store CO2. Do you want a lecture on prairie carbon sequestration? Because this is how you get a lecture on prairie carbon sequestration.)

Carol is such an incredible film, what an incredible experience. A beautifully shot and written period lesbian romantic drama, what's not to love?

Perhaps my favorite project in my entire time in college was for a population & community ecology course. We were told to each find a square yard of natural space, and take regular observations from January to May. The transformation of that small patch of woods from winter to spring was magical.

someday I will gather people together and subject them to Ava, an inexplicably bad film that by all rights should've been good. lady assassin movie with Jessica Chastain, John Malkovich, Geena Davis, and Colin Farrell, should be at least decent, right?

thinkin' about online personas, identity, and how much I've avoided even vaguely representational profiles in favor of this abstract image that basically nobody has seen the original source of (lol)

it took a couple hours, but I did it! every song in Sisters of Dorley, by order of appearance, so far

sometimes I get hit by a concept for a playlist, and become obsessed. it might be a shared theme, it might be a practical joke, it might be inspired by another form of art.

anyway this time it's dorley, as if I wasn't obsessed enough already.

were all the YA authors who wrote girl characters who had to pretend to be boys for plot reasons thinking about trans people? no. am I forming a theory about why I liked books with that trope as a kid? yes

Xerimorphic: refers to plants having adaptations to deal with arid conditions, for example the way succulents retain extra water in their leaves. Not, as I mistakenly wrote before, xenomorphic.

Trans gals in tech/compsci

I may be a STEM bitch, not escaping completely, but I'd much rather go play in the mud.

Lesbian stereotypes, on the other hand...

Calling my shot now: at least 70% of the "cis" people who feel compelled to comment will come out in the next two years.
hi random cis person reading this post. i, quite frankly, believe you specifically to be transgender and i would like you to entertain this idea for a moment because i am correct more often than not. my evidence is that u are reading my post at all which is a transgender trait. thank u for your time

I think it's finally time I got on progesterone. Anyone have any advice on getting it prescribed?

I'll DIY if I gotta, but since I've got that good insurance for now I wanna try and convince my endo first.

I've been meaning to read some of @tkingfisher.bsky.social's books for awhile now, and having read both books in the Clocktaur Wars in the course of two days, it's safe to say that I'm hooked.
