Like I'm always saying, Kishimoto can't write women because he doesn't respect them, and therefore he can't write romantic relationships on purpose, so accidental homoerotic tension between the few characters complete enough to have chemistry is the only interpersonal dynamic left.

Also I've yet to see a conservative admit that the service industry is blue collar work

.. before such expectations were laid on us (the nongendered childhood), but I might have more complex feelings on it, because it was the main period in my life without the wrong category enforced on me.

For example, take the phrase "man up" said by a father. You might reject it because of the implication of manliness being reduced to strength and stoicism, where I would reject it because to put me in the category of "man" is wrong on its face. We can both look back with nostalgia on the time..

I think everyone can and does have issues with the specifics of the gender expectations placed upon them, most parents have at some point exposed a flaw in their own idea of gender to their children, but for trans people it's categorical as well as specific.

As the child gets older, enforcement of assigned gender ramps up. I suspect for cis people this is less noticeable because the enforcement is similar to one's desires. But for trans kids, even unknowing, there's suddenly a lot of friction in the wrong category suddenly applying.

On the topic of the nongendered child, there's definitely a lot in there, I'll do my best to describe my perspective on it.

Under a certain age, the genderless category of child is more important to adults than the gendered subsets of boy and girl. This leaves gender only lightly enforced.

Serpentine! We've only got some tiny patches around here, but they can be so pretty

I think one of the healthier ways that trans people deal with being closeted/repressed/unknowing is by seeking out depictions of the type of relationship we wish we were in

One of the things about Alyson's writing is that her experience with transition is hidden all throughout it, and I believe she's mentioned somewhere that this sort of diet manipulation was encouraged if one was transitioning via the NHS when she was coming up

why is the map a Mercator with the bottom sliced off though?

I think it might be a much more compelling question if the lines radiate from 0⁰N 0⁰W

There are multiple species of salamander with a similar mechanism

Good fucking lord, someone has hurt you deeply, huh?

Are you perhaps seeking out suffering because it's the only thing that consistently makes you feel strong emotions?
September 2, 2025 at 5:46 AM
And what would that suffering ever accomplish for you?

Merely cancelling the Gerald Ford-class carriers could triple the budget for the NPS, USFWS, and USGS all at once, enabling a bunch of scientists to go absolutely hog wild

seed oil conspiracy guys have triangulated this combination between right-wing politics, natural foods crazes, and a way to grift so much goddamn money
August 27, 2025 at 4:21 AM
Ah fuck

I may have just realized why I so willingly slot myself in as a candidate for that role
August 21, 2025 at 10:04 AM

August 21, 2025 at 9:44 AM
christ, I had prior context and I still thought you were barely 40

It's sometimes a thing with spiro specifically, which you can certainly avoid taking (and depending on what country you live in, might not even have it suggested)

Injections are actually pretty quick and easy, it takes me maybe 5 minutes by now.
