Analee, The Garden Nuthatch, 12/16/2025.

Oil painting.

I like to name the animals and trees that visit the garden, turning abstract nature into familiar individuals. This fosters empathy and a sense of unity with all living things.

I found this pretty interesting today. A single beam of light in the dark forest was reflected so intensely by the foliage in the floor that it illuminated the underside of this old fallen tree. #Photography #Fotografie

Today is the anniversary of the M7.9 1906 earthquake which holds a lot of meaning to myself as an earthquake geologist, San Francisco native & resident. Here is a photo of the little fire hydrant that was functional after the quake & saved part of the Mission. Now painted gold to honor that service.

Blackware 1st century BC Roman drinking vase with relief of facial features, from the Oppidum d'Ensérune, near Narbonne, France. Usually found in the north of the Roman Empire, they were used in small shrines as well as in domestic contexts. They are quite rare and each one is different.
