This goes for stuff like "reading" too. People want "readers", but can barely say what's the point of reading.
(IMO the point of being a good reader is to Not Be A Sucker like your peers, but ymmv)

It funny to watch arguments about US education policy when, in my experience, like 99.9% of us have no idea what education should be for. Everyone arguing over their assumed fantasies.

US coffee is a dumb game— any bag that brags about being Too Hard for Gen Pop, DeathRaiser 5000, or Grunt Joe is gonna be a medium-to-dark roast fit for a middle aged dad fighting his acid reflux.
All the coffees that actually send you to the moon are from roasters called stuff like “Little Owl”

Why is so much American coffee sold as if it's the strongest most badass thing ever? I was gifted a bag of "Death Wish" coffee. The logo is similar to Starbucks' but with a skull and crossed bones and it was the mildest coffee I had tasted in a long time compared to Portugal coffee.

There was a phrase in the earlier days of Twitter for people who got big on the site: #FakeFamous. It’s kept me grounded over the years, even as countless posters (and media orgs, and countries, and globe) have gone another direction.
if I ever introduce myself as “Micah, everyone follows me on Bluesky” I need one of my friends to take me out back and gently put me out of my misery
The only time I met Noah Smith in person (~2015) he introduced himself as “Noah, everyone follows me on Twitter” and then proceeded to drop multiple n-words singing along to rap during karaoke. Just a really terrible guy.

America is getting eaten from the inside by a mad man in California and yes I am talking about Lebron and the Lakers

This is true, and I think liberals/progressives/the left have a lane available in the rhetorical arena if they want it: secularization (self-understanding) is actually a result of our moral natures, against a notion of God that violates intellectual/ethical honesty.
Among social conservatives there is a widespread narrative that morality as it exists in secularized societies today is the residue of christendom, and that as secularization progresses society will lose that residue more and more, until it becomes entirely amoral and lawless.
the basic paradox of believing that moral theories are the cause of moral facts is that most people manage to be moral and know moral facts without having the slightest familiarity with any abstract moral theory.

A thing you have to get used to in weed is the maximalist language people use. Someone jurisdiction could do something like ban cannabis edibles that are in the shape of a Minecraft character (to dissuade kids) and some adult will show up saying "the government is taking MY medicine" about it.

When I was a child, I thought "magnets work because north and south attract." When I went to college I learned that something something quantum orbitals quark spin four (five?) fundamental forces. As an adult I think "magnets work because north and south attract"
What % of Americans actually understand how a basic magnet works? And then deduct "Americans who understand but haven't reached the voting age yet".

I agree, and I think the fact that a huge amount of Americans think that learning and self-development are "school things" rather than "tasks of life, perhaps the definition of life itself" has led us to a place where people's knowledge depreciates like a car.
I maintain that the average American over 30 would underperform the average American graduating high school on a comprehensive exit exam (with results decaying with age) and really nothing has shaken that expectation over the last fifteen years or so.

If you are interested in the easiest, most accessible, Normal, and practical way to crowd out a plate of meat, there is but one answer...
Just learned about the “Beans is How” campaign, and I’m all about this vision. Unironically, this is a very smart idea, and one of the better-thought out Theories of Change I’ve seen. Who cares if Big Bean interests are involved, this is an essential change to make sdg2advocacyhub.org/beans-is-how/

FWIW, first blush thoughts from folks inside/consulting the hemp beverage space on Twitter are pretty quickly pivoting to uh pivoting, telling Hemp operators to either look for non-THC offerings, getting into a THC market in a fully legal state, or else shutting down

Also want to say that we shouldn’t underestimate how many federally electeds and staff resent the hemp lobby, professional or DIY. Don’t want to speak for all advocates, but the money hasn’t sent the best voices.

I am going to say some rash things, and you should listen to them rashly.
Historically speaking, there are only a couple real spots in the US that have a claim to being “legacy cannabis growers”. Everyone at this point knows California. Only some folks know the other big one is Kentucky.
