JD Vance on the killing of Renee Good: "The reporting over this has been one of the biggest scandals I've ever seen in media. I've never seen a case so misrepresented and misreported."

"When we imagine we are fighting monsters, that is when we are most in danger of becoming one." A necessary read today.
When you step into a discussion about ruthlessness, call it what you will, you step into a hall of mirrors – where some panels reflect images of yourself back at you that you do not want to see, and some glass panes offer you a clear, framed view of others.
Our Temptations — Martha Crawford - What a Shrink Thinks
The virulent demons that are inhabiting you are not grotesque little monsters with thrashing tales. They are illusions, stories you are telling yourself that are utterly fallacious; bizarre and fantas...

Might apply for this later. Nap first.
Delighted to have received a grant from a submerging writers foundation, which supports mid-career authors while they age, procrastinate and feel their early promise ebb away. Grants like this are essential to the production of unmarketable work of limited appeal.

My greatest blindspot used to be believing "no one can be that stupid" and imputing hidden agendas instead. Lately I've discovered that, to the ignorant, knowledgeable people sound both dumb and, more troublingly, weak.

Retirement. Exclaiming "Oh what a day" at the ceiling when it's just gone breakfast. Also, why am I losing nouns mid-sentence? Verbs are fine, and I use more adjectives than I actually need, but saying "thingy" and "you know" frustrates my husband rather a lot. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dwzq...

Well why not follow every tarot starter pack there is? What could go wrong? Working with the Dark Goddess Tarot today. Mass market deck has terrible card stock. Amazing guide book.

Day 38 of November; March in a few days. We've skipped winter entirely here. A handful of sunny days but mostly rain and rain and blinking deluge and then more rain. Record high temps in the North Pacific. Here it comes, and we're not ready; neither are we slowing down our emissions. #ClimateAction

Horror writer, scare thyself? As pretext for taking a digger to the local barrow mound, protag. Phillip's collie, Comet, chases fairy procession while on walkies. Dog disappears with, into mound. Now I have a problem. What if, when I bring the dog back, it's a changeling? Why do I do this to myself?

Our cat Beans passed last autumn. Finn misses her. We're now waiting for a cat to come find us, so. We miss having a kitty around.

T Olyphant as Kirsh (unrecognisable from Justfied) gives a 'meat' speech in Alien: Earth that lit up my existential OCD like 💥 He looks amazing, with a nod to Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner. Show's kinda meh so far (episode 2) but I never miss an Alien sequel like I never pass on a werewolf film.
