"The cyclists arrive at sunrise, rolling through Chicago’s Latino neighborhoods & stopping at tamale carts, elote stands & candy stalls. They buy out every last item — every tamale, every corn cob, every bundle of sweets. Then they load up the food & deliver it to shelters & families in need."
Chicagoans buy out street vendors amid a federal immigration crackdown
Across Chicago’s Latino neighborhoods, fear of a federal immigration crackdown has emptied the streets.

An excellent reminder.
One of the hardest things to remember in these times is that while things are falling apart, *they are not falling apart because you're not trying hard enough*. They're falling apart because the structures of our society can't prop them up anymore.

You are enough, just as you are.

I agree. Everything is so grey/silver/black and sleek.

I miss color in my tech.

I love this for her. Karoline Leavitt is now the official face of covering for Jeffrey Epstein and friends. ❤️❤️❤️
As Karoline Leavitt concludes her press briefing and walks off, @andrewfeinberg.com asks: "What was the president doing with Virginia Giuffre for hours at Epstein's house?"

She did not respond.

Faux ragebait headline - worth a read, though!

Rephrase the power of the people as "demonstration" not "protest". I agree. We are protesting, but *clearly* the "leaders" (even in the more left-ish party) need some damn reminding that the People are the Power & elected leaders are: Public Servants.
Stop Talking About “protests”
I am tired of hearing about “protests” and “protesters.” Those terms sound whiney and powerless to me. “Protest” means to object, which is, of course,

You know it's the holiday season when the spam calls begin.
I've received 5 from Florida in just the past week; twice today. All from the same number, except the last two digits change ( 45, 48, 47, 52 etc).

Definitely robo'ing.

Trump said he was never on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane, didn’t know Ghislaine Maxwell was recruiting at Mar-a-Lago and wasn’t on the island

The emails released by the House Oversight Committee suggest he lied

Now we know why Maxwell gets to pet puppies

Can’t wait until Adelita Grijalva is sworn in

1. Going to the Library in Smyrna or Murfreesboro, TN?

You might be greeted by an EMERGENCY CLOSURE sign.

Apparently they have detected the presence of "transgender books" and are quarantining them as if they were a dangerous plague.

Some Tennessee Libraries Shut Down For “Emergency Closure” Over Transgender Books
It is unclear how many other libraries have or may need to temporarily shut their doors in order to cull their children’s sections for gender-subversive content.

This is how you do it.

Thank you, Veterans, for your service. We see you. 💜
Ahead of Veterans Day, I was honored to welcome a flight of veterans and their families as they arrived in DC.

Did y’all know yesterday plaques commemorating African American soldiers fighting against Nazi Germany in Europe have been removed from a U.S. military cemetery in the Netherlands. From complaints by Trumps admin & the Heritage Foundation

Anyways Happy Veterans Day but not to black people i guess

An impressively thorough documentary on the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. From the building of the ship, to its voyage, to its search, to theories of how she sank, to local museums, and a tribute (complete with photos) of each of the 29 crew members.

Definitely worth your time.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The song by Gordon Lightfoot, retelling the somber tale, has enthralled me since I was a child.
Over on Mastodon, folks are posting memes and links to commemorate this event.

I feel seen.

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.
