A simple redesign starts, mainly to give it a little polish. It's not perfect, but it's complete. For the first time ever, every card has the same format and will be together. I had never completed the full remake of the original cards with the first remake, so NOW'S THE TIME!

See, turns out my man @stuartkrugvo.bsky.social was getting married and asked that I be a groomsman! Neat! But a gift! What to get the man? And it hit me: give him a complete version of the game you've been working on for the last 20 years as a pet project. It'll be great! So I get started.

But, like all things, life got busy and JF had to take it to the sidelines. I found myself reminiscing on the good times and hilarious cards more often than not. I would get on little doodle streaks for cards on Sundays during church and think about making more cards when I got a call from a friend.

I added a resource system so cards had costs. It was still broken, but that was the fun of it. Justice Fighters cards made me laugh and the game was silly enough to be exciting to draw. So work continued and the cards cleaned up. I still used MS Word, but I was learning. This looked playable!

After many years and cards I lost motivation to make more cards, but things fired back up once I got married. A Christmas check from my parents led to a laminator and an newfound interest to make Justice Fighters into a thing. A REAL thing. Like a game that had rules and could be won. I got to work.

The cards were ROUGH, but they got the job done. Originally, the templates were hand drawn and then photocopied before I did some magic in Microsoft Word to make creating new cards faster. They were laminated in packing tape and mostly drawn during Geometry class. It was intoxicating.

So Justice Fighters started as a weekend sleepover watching YuGiOh one morning where the phrase "We could probably make a better card game than this" was uttered. I was goofing, my friend Clayton was not. We traced an MTG card and got to work. It was rudimentary at first, but the basics were there.

So I'm working on a huge project called "Justice Fighters" which ends up being my take on "Magic is too sweaty these days and prohibitively expensive and Yu-Gi-Oh is impossible to approach and the 'Un sets' of MTG made me smile" I want to show off some of the design process!

I am currently 70% done with the largest art project I have ever worked on. It's somewhere like 50 hours in the last 10 days. Today was 8 of those hours. I'll reveal it on Thursday when I reveal it to the person I will eventually be giving it to, but be excited @stuartkrugvo.bsky.social .
