So strange that across a variety of professions, people who recognize the value of human beings writing words say the exact same things about ceding that work to a bot.

This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH

"...the biggest blockages in public hospitals...are people discharged from hospital who were unable to leave because they were waiting for an aged-care place to open up, or people with NDIS packages...with not enough support to leave." Federal responsibilities that are dealt with by the states.
Albanese shut down negotiations with states over hospital funding for six months last year, using the crisis in health funding to force states and territories to agree on disability supports outside the NDIS. There has been no agreement on either score. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/politic...
Exclusive: Albanese shut down hospital talks to pressure states
In an attempt to force the reallocation of NDIS costs, Anthony Albanese has halted funding negotiations for state hospitals – a move that could ‘bankrupt’ the system.

NDIS and ministers talk big game on fraud & rorting but biggest budget savings booked under new legislation come from kicking (mostly) kids off scheme, cutting plans under cover of 'integrity'. Half a BILLION a year just on eligibility revocations alone. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/health/...
Exclusive: Children targeted in NDIS crackdown
Despite claims the government’s reform of the National Disability Insurance Scheme is focused on fraud, a third of the savings will come from pushing children off the scheme.

I've noticed using the word "valid" without qualification causes huge communication breakdowns on SLP instagram. "Valid" has a distinct colloquial/social media definition. Without the qualification of stating something is "scientifically" valid - the message quickly misconstrued and lambasted

This quote from Pamela Snow is one of my favourites from this year. Such a powerful statement. Children's instructional time is invaluable, and we have an ethical duty to ensure it's used effectively and responsibly.

This systematic review found Enhanced Milieu Teaching (EMT) was more effective when implemented by caregivers than when implemented by therapists. So important that we partner with families in our work. #SLPeeps

"...consider the ethical implications of using a non-evidence-based intervention including both financial and opportunity costs"
A digestible systematic review with actionable conclusions. SLPs, researchers, and GLP proponents have a collective responsibility to examine this movement critically.
