A classic hallmark of pseudoscience is when proponents reverse the burden of proof on skeptics to prove them wrong rather than having to provide evidence to support their own claims.

Hitchens’s razor: What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.

Children are incredible language learning machines. But how do they do it? Our latest paper, just published in TICS, synthesizes decades of evidence to propose four components that must be built into any theory of how children learn language. 1/

If you're disabled, you are more likely to read books by able bodied writers that are inspiration p0rn or else detail how your life is ruined by disability, than books by actually disabled writers, as @sfdirewolf.bsky.social wrote in Publishers Weekly www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

Here is a sequence of my friend the great blue heron (who I still need to name) preparing their trout for consumption. I crossed-checked a scar on its beak near its eye with a picture from two weeks ago and it matched. This heron is not scared of humans and fishes with me standing 15-feet away.

And what about empty (not saying false, but potentially) claims about research having been conducted on an intervention - with no evidence provided for this - and people then implementing the intervention at $$$ on the basis of those claims?

I’d say it is never too late to retract empty claims.
Nham Tran UTS @aunz.theconversation.com "Fewer than 20% of all retractions are due to honest mistakes. Researchers usually contact the publisher to correct errors when they are detected, with no major consequences". The rest arise from researchers behaving badly. theconversation.com/scientific-m...
Scientific misconduct is on the rise. But what exactly is it?
In 2023, more than 10,000 research papers were retracted because of scientific misconduct. But it’s not always deliberate.
