A couple thoughts on the new NAEP scores:

-they don't tell us much more than we already knew in January from the data we got then (see link)
-reminder that NAEP scores come from students in public, private, and charter schools but will be used primarily to bash public schools
Nearly 5 years after schools closed, the nation gets a new report card
There's some good news in math, mostly bad news in reading and lots of questions about why students are still struggling.

With the release of new harrowing footage of the tragedy, this statement bears repeating: The Uvalde massacre could have been prevented.

While the disastrous police response deserves scrutiny, so does another side of the horrific tragedy: how the shooter was able to obtain an AR-15.

My take is that senior officers are completely unprepared for this moment.

When demo is healthy, there is little tension btw adhering to civilian control & serving democracy

Faced w/ the manifest clash in principles these missions present, they are doing what's familiar--following orders.1/
What's a MAJ supposed to do when they watch GOFOs and COLs do nothing and say nothing about what went down with LA, the parade, Bragg, and criticism of MoH recipients?

There's no top cover, no leadership, no hard convos. Just abdication and servility from the top creating difficulties on down.

Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet seems to have found a spine. I hope more Democrats join him and Al Greene.

Colorado senator on Schumer: 'It's important for people to know when it's time to go'
Colorado Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet stopped short Wednesday of calling on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to step down from leadership, but came pretty darn close.
