there’s this insane book that’s collected New Yorker essays from before the dotcom crash examining the 90s bubble and and every single one ends with “to be sure, this all could crash, and all these layoffs will prove to have deleted some necessary inefficiency that held society together”

We need to start to understand that “respecting people’s beliefs” means giving the people holding anti-society beliefs what they want, which is separation from society. Respect their agency that they want what they say they want. Give them credit for the natural logical effect of their belief.

That's why they all hate cancel culture so much, it's unfair that people who aren't competitors in the tournament could eliminate them
