The GOP budget bill would cut up to $300 billion from SNAP over the next ten years.

42 million Americans get food assistance from SNAP.

This bill would make people go hungry.

Most of the people on Medicaid and SNAP who can work are *already* working.

Those who cannot — people who are sick, caregivers, and those with disabilities — will lose their health care because of Republican work requirements. www.rwjf.org/en/insights/...

Trump officials' showings at hearings today were disasters, but it doesn't make headlines bc the media's default assumption is that Rs are clownish rascals. But if Dems didn't know what was happening at their agencies or what habeas corpus is, it'd be front page news. This is a key media asymmetry.

My grandparents died of cancer.
My best friend died of cancer.

Many of YOU, Democrats and Republicans, have friends and loved ones who died of cancer.

Cutting cancer research is evil AF, and we should ALL agree on that. If we can't, we're cooked.

As a German I will forever be grateful to all who fought for the liberation of Europe.

But as a historian I am looking at front pages today and must wonder: What is the point of remembering #VEDay 80 years on, what is the point of our thanks, when we are failing to protect the sacrifices made? 🧵

Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act is ruled unconstitutional by a Trump appointed judge in Texas!

A Trump appointed judge.

Oof!
Lead ACLU lawyer:

“The Court correctly held that the President lacks authority to simply declare there’s been an invasion of the United States and then invoke a 18th century wartime authority during peacetime,” Gelernt said. “Congress never meant for this law to be used in this manner.”

Judge Rodriguez, a Trump appointee, rules that the administration cannot use the Alien Enemies Act to deport alleged members of TdA. It’s a wartime authority & we are not at war, he holds. On to the 5th Circuit & SCOTUS.

There are rules that are made to protect society at large and there are rules that are made to control society at large - and, yeah, most of us know the difference…but, then, most of us forget about (or ignore) the rules that are made to fuck the smallest parts of society for the duration.
