Niall is very patient. He explains i. Full. As to why Brits thought it was a good idea? As a Brit I think Niall agrees. The idea of British Exceptionalism didn't go away when the Empire did. Many Brits just think they're special and better than anyone else. It's really that simple.
Fair play Niall, how you can tolerate de-bunking the same exceptionalist myths / flights of fancy everyday is beyond me. How do these people not understand it was a very bad, but ultimately majority democratic decision, by the UK, to leave the EU and leave all the benefits membership entailed?

Hard agree. During brexit campaign we had a Labour party led by a lifelong brexiteer. Refused to share a platform with Cameron because "people might think we share the same values". He shared a platform with Hamas though and called them friends.

This looks like the NI Protocol working as intended.
The bureaucracy of course is not pointless. It is there to protect European citizens from substandard or harmful products, and not just from the UK.
Perhaps M&S should blame Brexit and UKG instead?

I'm not a lawyer but one thing I do know is that skeptical questions aren't a bad sign. The justice disagrees and invites the other party to convince them they are wrong. But this is modern #scotus. Majority fairly bought and paid for. So anyone's guess.
This means the three potential "swing" justices start with skeptical questions. To prevail, proponents of the VRA test need two out of three to agree.
