Edited most of a part today, but I ran out of brain when I hit the "steamy" scene. Certainly I will not regret this tomorrow when I go back to it...

I'm going to be honest here, I think AI is going to do so much damage to the usable internet that even after it's inevitably crashes out, it's going to take years to disentangle from every space it's polluted, like digital asbestos it's gonna be time consuming effort and likely expensive venture.
I think AI is going to eventually tank in the longterm, but...
the only real way to combat this is single-interest communities. Forums, user comms, etc, with a barrier to entry. They become trustable knowledgebases. It's really the only way forward is to return to what worked best the first time

the fandom version of "everyone should work a customer service job" imo is "everyone should try writing fanfiction at least once", like you don't even need to post it but just try it

my hottest educational take is that schools should actively, non-punitively teach students how to admit when they don't know something, aren't sure or have made a mistake, with various teaching frameworks adapted to support this ideal, because people who can't admit fault are breaking the world

If you are too tied to gmail, then go shut off the smart features to disable all this. I did it a week or two ago and I really don't feel like I'm missing anything at all.
Yet another reason to get off Gmail and try to lessen your reliance on Google altogether. There are plenty of good alternatives. I use ProtonMail, for example.

Don't take this job! They will pay you peanuts to "edit" a TL that's so flavorless/confusing you'll have to TL the whole thing all over again from scratch bc machine TL can't deal with nuance, metaphor, idiom, personality, or any of the other many human elements that come together to make a story!
