THE CAINE MUTINY is about a mutiny on a WWII minesweeper to replace a captain whose nerves are shot. But this film was made in the 1950s and needed the cooperation of the US Navy-- so the overall tone is stridently patriotic. But the subversive elements are still there. #yabtm

On a personal level, I have never really liked this film. It’s all about a narcissistic, self-destructive choreographer and the people who inexplicably love him. The musical numbers are bland, the songs unmemorable, the plot tired and shaky. It’s a decent advertisement for dance wear, though. #yabtm
