Oh I'm well aware of those studies, but I seriously doubt they take into account the emotional turbulence of "So and So shockingly dies"
They’ve done studies that show that knowing how a story ends does not affect one’s enjoyment of a piece of media.
Regardless of that, if some game/movie/book/etc. is only good if you don’t know the twists then the thing is bad.
