Better yet, do a movie with a new Bond where it looks like it's just a reboot but slowly you realise that this new Bond ACTUALLY BELIEVES he's been Bond since the Cold War

The best version of Bond by far is The Prisoner
Wait, were the writers of recent Bond stuff suffering under the delusion that this is a series with tight continuity? Like...did they think that the Craig Bond was also active during the Cold War?

Bond is a title, not a name. There have been so many Bonds. I'm sure some of them were convinced that was their actual name by the end.
The whole Bond thing, where the writer is all "boohoo how do I follow up Bond being dead boohoo" is so funny to me. The Bond franchise's whole thing is they hire a new Bond and everyone goes "oh that's the new bond then alright."
You can simply do that! It's okay!

Update: In 3 recent editorials, WaPo failed to disclose owner Jeff Bezos's interest in the matter under discussion.
WaPo added one disclosure after @bgrueskin.bsky.social called it out.
Two weeks after my story, the other two editorials still have none. And the paper still won't say why

Hi, I found this representation of a deity -- Hindu? -- on the beach. Does anyone know who this is and what I should do with them?
