It is a very particular thing with this Government that businesses are the only things that drives economic growth, whereas people just, I dunno, have babies and breath too much.
Just about everything Nicola Willis is announcing in this budget is bad for our future, bad for climate, bad for our society.
Taking money from essential workers in female dominated industries, young families having new babies, KiwiSavers. It’s madness.

What the bejesus is happening in Aotearoa NZ — " tax breaks for tobacco companies are being funded by cutting women's pay rises and backpay"
THANK YOU to all my friends out there at the snap protests
These are the pay equity claims that the government wiped out in just two days to make its budget balance. It's appalling that tax breaks for tobacco companies are being funded by cutting women's pay rises and backpay.

Many British churches have yew trees in their grounds. However many were there BEFORE the church.

Pagan rituals have become Christian in nature through time. Yew trees were used as places of gathering by Druids, so the churches were placed where people always met

this makes me a little homesick for Somerset, for spring, for the oaks I used to hide behind when I was young and called in for tea.
Now I am in Aotearoa, and while there are english oak trees here, it's late autumn and they are sleeping. Also, no one calls me in for tea anymore. Which sucks.

Gotta correct the media again on something. The administration is not sending migrants to a mega prison in El Salvador. They’re sending human beings to a concentration camp.

We are in the middle of a climate apocalypse. But do we really care?
The problem with the soft apocalypse is that it is still an apocalypse. It still ends in collapse. We tell ourselves we have time, that the worst is always just ahead, that we will act when we must

@greenpeaceuk.bsky.social genuinely grateful for your work, but in response to the email I got inviting me to buy merch... I have to ask how is this aligned with confronting our overconsumption and ecological collapse? Even "ethical" new stuff is still...new stuff. Help me understand. My head hurts.
