So many people are stepping up to save the Denniston Plateau from being turned into a monstrous coal mine that spews climate pollution equivalent to NZ's entire emission! This is the fight of our lifetimes.

The unprecented rollbacks in climate action this week make it clear Luxon sure doesn't think about climate change very much!

Bad news for everyone who is at risk of climate-fuelled extreme weather events, pays for expensive fossil fuels in their power bills, or breathes air.

The latest Fast-Track Approvals amendments are a dangerous Henry VIII-style power grab that shreds democracy, hands royal privileges to mining companies, and says "off with his head" to the *head* of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA)

Read the long-read article about Denniston in Drilled: drilled.media/news/nz-coal

The government's increasingly desperate attempts to fast-track coal mines - by shutting out local communities & using agressive political rhetoric - is deliberately stirring up division.

Bathurst wants to rip up the denniston plateau for a 20 million tonne coal mine 👎 We want the plateau & its unique flora and fauna to be protected 💚 Choose a side.

It's already been six months since 70 of us launched the campaign with our encampment on the Denniston Plateau. Here are some of our highlights!

We've been heartened for all the support that we've been getting for the campaign to save the denniston plateau. People from all walks of life are joining our movement to save this special place, and protect the climate.

Share in the replies the reasons why you want to save denniston

“Ideological Sludge”: How New Zealand Is Quiet Quitting Climate Action
New Zealand once stood out as a world leader on climate change. In June it became the first country in the world to abandon a commitment to phase out oil, gas and coal.

Families in Aotearoa face tough choices between heating their homes and putting food on the table, while energy companies reap huge profits. Our energy framework needs reform. We must unite for an affordable, dependable, and green energy future. When the power fails, it affects us all.

Energy poverty is rising - and THIS is the government's response?

The govt is helping the shareholders of the fossil fuel industry and the gentailers, when they should be helping lower energy costs through cheap, community renewables!

Luxon wants Labour to commit to 10 years of offshore gas exploration.
Here's the reality:
❌ No major gas find in 20+ years
❌ Gas drives climate crisis
✅ Renewables are cheaper & abundant
Stop doubling down on fossil fuels. Invest in our renewable future. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/...
Luxon’s personal letter to Hipkins appealing for ‘bipartisanship’ on key issue dismissed as ‘political stunt’
The correspondence comes at a critical time for energy developments.

Local election polls are closing in less than a fortnight. Let's vote to care for our climate and our communities.

The Climate Change Commission's analysis shows massive opportunities for emissions reductions that actually SAVE money while creating jobs and improving lives - especially in the electricity generation sector! It's not about spending more - it's about spending smarter.

This Saturday, we joined the March for Palestine in Auckland. While the media reported 20,000 attendees, those of us on the ground witnessed what felt like double that number, creating a powerful and peaceful demonstration of solidarity.

We know that the forces that enable a few to grow obscenely rich by wrecking the planet are the same forces that are displacing and oppressing the human rights of Palestinians. Plus, the climate impact of Israel’s war on Gaza is greater than the emissions from over a hundred countries.
