Local councils have been reduced to essentially a vehicle that provides social care - and many can’t afford to do that. And yet despite everything we’ve lost in terms of parks, libraries, community centres, youth services etc, we’ve all ended up paying loads more for it.

When I was out reporting on the Runcorn by-election, Reform may have wanted us to believe everyone was talking about immigration. They weren’t, they were talking about the state of their town. The poor state it was in, the lack of activities for young people etc. This stuff means a lot to people.
