The first film that I started this journey off with was The Harvest Month (Elokuu, 1957), by Matti Kassila.

Started off with this because I've never seen any films by Kassila, despite him having directed a very famous detective series over here.

Also filled out the gap I had between 1956 and 1958.

Aight, so:

I'm not sure how prevalent of an opinion it is overall, but I feel like whenever I talk to other Finns about Finnish movies, the overall opinion seems to be that the Finnish film industry sucks as a whole and that virtually nothing worth watching has been, or is being, made over here.
Resurrecting this account a bit since I need a way to yap about films that isn't Discord.

Will elaborate once I wake up.

I do sometimes think about the fact that the way the current Light Novel title meta is means that that publishing culture has gone full loop and reached the 18th century British serial novels.

Except that they'd still be considered short in comparison.

A Bittersweet Life (달콤한 인생, 2005) was an interesting case for me since both my knowledge of the film and the desire to see it were both tied to me hearing the rendition of "Romance" by Yuhki Kuramoto from its OST.

Its scene turning out to be the single most important one in the movie felt right.

The second movie was An American Werewolf in London.

That movie rocks. Expectations based on the title completely shattered. (Though there was an american werewolf in london, that much held true).

Some very minor details haven't aged too well, but the film is very unhinged in a wonderful way.

Last night was another double feature, neither of which I knew that much about before. Horror comedies both.

First movie was Critters (1986). It was pretty much exactly what I wound have expected from that kind of "little monsters break havoc" type of movie, for the most part.

Chaos;Head was the first visual novel that I ever played, roughly a decade ago. I never thought it to be perfect (and I still need to get around to doing Noah), but it was immensely interesting and served as a good introduction to both the nedium itself and into denpa.

It is kinda interesting how arachnophobia gives you an immediate way to determine how spider-like any given thing or depiction is based on how much it makes you jump out of your chair upon seeing it.

The spider sense, I call it.

The spooky month movie time continues with a trade offer I made with a friend.

We'll watch The Color Out of Space (2019) because she wants to, and then we'll watch Die Farbe (2010) because I want to.
