Fifteen years of ideological choices to strangle & gut the public realm - NHS to schools to social services to local museums - is what underlies the anger "tearing our country apart"; immigration is simply the scapegoat that the far right are pushing people toward.
Why can't Labour just say this?

What a shocking waste of opportunity this government has proved to be.
It has squandered its time and attention on ridiculous fiscal rules, persecuting refugees and trashing ecosystems in the name of growth, while failing to deliver what we so desperately want.

People will mock this. But something to note:

When Remembrance Day was introduced, this is EXACTLY what many British WW1 veterans did on it.

They would meet up with old friends and colleagues from their units. Talk. Laugh. Cry. Toast those not there and get joyously, and utterly shitfaced. /1

Lobby your MP. Leave off and stop hassling my (trans / gender nonconforming / people who don't match stereotypes) friends, family, students, colleagues ... and people I've never met and never will meet for that matter. Can we just stop being shitty to each other? Is that REALLY too much to ask???
🚨This is an emergency🚨

This Government is currently sitting on an EHRC Code of Practice that will lead to the segregation and exclusion of trans people in public life.
