The Trump presidency is deeply embarrassing. Today, he and JD Vance, went to new lows in attacking president Zelenskyy – a true war hero. Trump and Vance looked weak. Absent their positions they are weak. Today we witnessed way beyond Nixonian abuses of power. It was Hilterian.

Could be, but no less dangerous. It’s why we have background checks and don’t do things like, oh, say, permit felons to have security clearance or unfettered access to the federal Treasury. Not only are they unscrupulous they can be compromised.
You know, it just may be—I know it’s hard to believe, but please, hear me out—that our felonious president and premier digital rapist may be an gullible, easily manipulated dumbass.
Any news outlet reporting Mexico conceded anything to Trump to get him to delay tariffs has not done its homework.
Trump boasts he got Mexico to commit to stationing 10K troops at our border. Apparently he didn't realize Mexico already has 15K troops deployed there

This better be the first step not the only step. Congress needs to act, now.
Senator Elizabeth Warren sent a letter on Monday to the Treasury secretary demanding answers for why the Dept. of Government Efficiency was granted access to the federal payments system, giving Elon Musk's team a powerful tool that could be used to track and potentially limit government spending.

I'm sorry, but "they took over the whole federal payments system, fired the career staff, and won't let anybody see what they're doing" is not a situation in which you wait for more information. It's a situation in which you assume the worst. There's no explanation for it other than rampant crimes.

Don’t let him win the narrative. There was no tariff threat, there was a smokescreen to distract from the Musk-led and Musk-engineered coup.

I’m going to put my rich guy hat on and say I hope that Mexico and Canada issue equal, retaliatory tariffs and stick to them for an extended period.

I apologize to all the people it will cost money and the businesses it will hurt.

But it’s the only way for tariffs to be seen for what they are

If each Treasury payee is a separate record, and there are, say, 68,000,000 social security payees (as is estimated), then at $5000 per violation, it seems like Elon could be penalized $340 billion if he unlawfully accessed their Treasury records...

Best thing our allies can remember: if you stand up to Trump you intimidate him and he will back down. If you crawl to him (like his sycophantic politicians) he will not respect you and will eventually throw you under the bus.
