This is really interesting. It certainly sounds like a defensive stress response.

As a commenter has said, most excellently,

"Semper phylum!"
In my utopian world, the military’s primary function would be deploying battalions of biologists to every corner of the globe to observe insect life cycles and finally figure out things like “where do the eels go?”

Here is a photo of a trans non-binary biologist (me) holding a bird (Eastern Towhee) that is likely a bilateral gynandromorph-- a fusion of cells with female-type chromosomes and cells with male-type chromosomes in one bird!

Biological sex and human gender diversity is real and wonderful ❤️🏳️‍⚧️

Reminder that part of this project is going to rest on trying to convince you that you did not see what you saw, you didn’t hear what you heard, it didn’t mean what you thought it meant, it didn’t even happen

They’ve already been doing that, for years, and they’ve had a lot of help
They want you to give up, to check out, to drown in misery and nihilism. They want you to believe they are inevitable. They want you to believe that nothing matters, nothing can be done, and only naive fools think there’s any point in fighting or anything worth fighting for

Despite todays outrageous injustice, we're still going to be fighting for the climate, wildlife, our national parks and public lands, social justice, democracy and above all, future generations.

If you need a break
Take it
But never give up

Something to remind you
It's a world worth saving

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
