I covered yesterday's press conference by U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles so reporters didn't have to work on a holiday--the event made a mockery of Memorial Day and I couldn't write a straight news story. Here's my take:
Editor's notebook: U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles dishonors Memorial Day with political stunt • Tennessee Lookout
Tennessee 5th District U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles made a mockery of Memorial Day with a political stunt attacking immigrants and Nashville's mayor.

Only in America is someone shot and killed every 18 minutes in a road rage shooting.

This is not normal.
What is the worst US state for drivers with road rage?
Worst three states for aggressive and dangerous drivers are found in the South, Southwest, and West — the safest is in the Northeast

In a truly callous move, the Trump administration's Justice Department announced it will abandon efforts to address police violence and close investigations into police departments linked to unconstitutional practices and killings of Black Americans.

This policy was working: Over 1,000 dealers were held accountable for serious violations—like failing to keep track of guns and vet customers.

With this move, Trump has made it easier for gun dealers to break the law, get away with it, and sell guns again.

The ATF’s “zero tolerance” policy helped shut down gun dealers who failed to run background checks and record sales.

Last month, the Trump Administration eliminated a policy that held gun dealers accountable when they broke the law.

Now, they’re encouraging those law-breaking dealers to reapply for licenses so they can sell guns again. This will only put more guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them.

Extremely painful to witness the cruelty & vitriol of Rep. Andrew Farmer. His unprovoked words were intended for nothing other than to dehumanize & strip away the dignity of a grieving colleague. I cannot imagine any other professional setting where such degrading behavior would have no consequence.

Honor them with action by calling on members of Congress at (202) 224-3121 to pass an #AssaultWeaponsBan.
