This is getting wild.

The states of Iowa, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and 14 others have just asked for permission to file THEIR amicus brief in IL v. Trump.

The fact we have secret police whisking people off the streets doesn’t get enough attention. It ain’t normal and we’re further down the road to authoritarianism than you think.

I always say I love my country the way Anthony Bourdain did, not as a benevolent state or one founded in innocence but as vast, beautiful place full of discrete people and cultures such as has rarely been attempted and worth fighting for.

The uv build backend is now stable, and considered ready for production use.

An alternative to setuptools, hatchling, etc. for pure Python projects, with a focus on good defaults, user-friendly error messages, and performance.

When used with uv, it's 10-35x faster.

Several people on BlueSky asked me how to begin reading Hannah Arendt’s works.
So as not to get imtimidated by her most famous book, The Origins of Totalitarianism, I recommend starting with something a little more topical: "Crisis of the Republic." Then jump to The Human Condition, and if you're still in the boat after that read The Origins of Totalitarianism.

This coming from a guy that probably thinks opening email is a difficult task. /sarcasm Yeah we just sit behind a computer doing super easy stuff.
TUBERVILLE: Our younger generation has to grow up & understand it's not just sitting behind a computer

ASMAN: 25% of Americans say they would consider a manufacturing job if it paid more. We only have about 9% of workers now in factories. If 25% are willing to do it for better pay, they'll do fine

I still am in shock that we're at a point where those coming into the US have to be worried about being deported for thought crimes. And it's not even questionable thought crimes. The snowflakes will deport you over a meme. Please keep yourself safe coming here.

"Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past."
If “I want to see a historical document about __________.”
[literally anything related to the extensive collection at NARA II] is not immediately taken as a sufficient answer, then the answer is “the wrong person, with criteria that are too limiting.”
Who decides what a “legitimate business interest” is, and how?

Multiple reports of police radio describing crossfire between rival gangs, the LAPD and the LASD:
Looks like I'm not the only one who caught this on the scanner. I didn't think to hit record but I bet someone has it
From the scanner right now: LAPD is taking rubber bullets from LASD. I am not joking. (They're in each other's crossfire, it's a clusterfuck that they've largely brought on themselves)

Cannot stress enough that the protest in DTLA was completely nonviolent until the local police departments showed up

Been in contact with multiple indies currently on the ground who confirmed this. Cops pushed, then started firing riot munitions indiscriminately
@melbuer.bsky.social posting for Sean as the situation has deteriorated rapidly. Lines of mounted police surged the crowd and began firing riot munitions directly into people. One person appeared to be trampled by the horses, another detained. Multiple videos incoming

Remarkable.

MSNC: "I want to reiterate this has been 100% peaceful."

Seconds later, LA County sheriffs start firing on the crowd.

Yet again, "law enforcement" deliberately escalated.

To be clear, I saw no signs of violence or anything that would warrant teargas. They brought in horses and then we heard a bunch of loud pops before the crowds started running.

PPE is not a crime. Fuck the police.
“You’re gonna get arrested too” he says to someone walking by wearing a KN95, then clarifies he is threatening arrest to people specifically for wearing masks (respiratory protection)
