Beyond trust, this kind of local news coverage is also how you build civic engagement that gets people to vote, volunteer, and run for stuff. If we want to actually repair the damage being done right now, we'll need this kind of engagement.
(This is why I'm so bullish on the "left-leaning people of means should invest heavily in local news, then mostly report on seemingly apolitical items of local interest to build trust" theory of What's To Come.)
