It’s weird. You’re drinking your first cup of coffee, getting ready for breakfast, when all of a sudden your notifications blow up, so you throw some clothes on, grab your PPE, and run off to chase trouble with neighbors.
My latest is a love letter to Chicago. "I see you stumbling through the stubborn, awkward rhythm of showing up, again and again. I see you fighting alongside people who sometimes frustrate and confuse you, and defending neighbors you may have never met, because you know they’re all your people."

If MLK were alive today where would he be? If RFK were alive today where would he be? Where are our leaders? 7-8 million marched in the streets in Oct, tens of millions went to the polls on Tuesday, citizens in the streets in Chicago… where are the leaders? Right now this minute, where are they?
Chicago PD arrested several individuals on behalf of ICE after conducting a raid on an entire city block in the Little Village neighborhood. During the arrest, one of the detained neighbors was visibly choked by CPD officers and repeatedly informed them that he was unable to breathe

California voters just said F*CK NO to Trump’s authoritarian power grab!

Prop 50 is more than a ballot measure, it’s a blueprint for how we defend democracy. It proves that when voters are given the chance to stand up and fight back, they do — by huge margins and despite relentless intimidation.

Love this! Incredible paint-on-glass artistry and visual storytelling. Pulls you immediately into Dostoevsky's dark dream and carries you in its flow. (Would love to see this animator do a Kafka story!)

I stepped out to walk across Philly last night and get a sense of things. City Hall always captures me here, Philadelphia has maintained its European layout and much of its early architecture.

So much ❤️ for L.A. especially right now. (Click for more beautiful canvases.)

I grew up in East Central Indiana, convinced my grandfather was or at least had been a klan member, yet even with my journalism degree, I never knew about George Dale, the newspaperman who dared to challenge the Muncie KKK. Great & ultimately inspiring piece by Dan Sinker. “Fascism always fails.”
In light of everything happening, I wrote about how the KKK in the 1920s felt unstoppable, about the people that fought against them anyway, and about how fascism always fails. dansinker.com/posts/202…

Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos) I first heard this by the Byrds in '69. There is no existing recording of Woody singing the song, lots of good renditions. The story has not changed "they chase us like outlaws, like rustlers, like thieves..."
