Fellow white people, what do you do when you're forced into a conversation with white a supremacist? As in you can't walk away and you feel unsafe arguing against their ideas? Because this keeps happening to me and idk why they assume I'd agree 😐

Never in my life did I expect to use so much geometry in my MSc project, let alone have to learn how to woodwork.

@99pi.org listening to the episode on 15 min cities and Edmonton came up. I moved here in June and I actually sold my car because I no longer need it since most things are within 15 minutes from my apartment. I specifically chose the neighborhood I live in because of its walkability.

I'm generally not a very anxious person with the one exception being flying. The actual plane ride is fine but it's the process of getting to the airport and through security in time is what makes it stressful... even when I'm 3 hours early lol

Using harmonic radar tags weighing less than a milligram, scientists have shown fruit flies can be tracked to reveal flight patterns and wind-driven effects in real-world environments. The researchers say the technique can open doors to answer new questions about insects flight behavior.

I'm currently reading Stable Isotope Ecology by Brian Fry and I came upon this fun fact that I have no one else to talk to about. Apparently if you were to replace all heavy stable isotopes in a 50kg human body with light isotopes the human wonld only lose 30g (1/2)

I think every undergrad biology program should have a mandatory introduction to R course. No classes that I took as an undergrad used or taught R, which is a major setback now that I'm a grad student.

There’s more to rainbows than the human eye can see: here’s how a rainbow extends into the infrared and ultraviolet.

Photos:
1. Infrared
2. Visible (obviously)
3. Ultraviolet, and
4. A composite showing how UV is beyond the violet in a rainbow, and IR beyond the red end.

Mine is that honey bees aren't native to North America. "Save the bees" is supposed to refer to native bees but most people in NA think it refers to honey bees 💔
What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders?

There is a new species of shark or shark relative (skate, ray, or chimera) discovered approximately every two weeks.
