No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.

This. In the past year I've gone from, "No one should have the kind of wealth that billionaires do, but at least a few of them have made great contributions to society", to "Maybe all of them should be jailed and their wealth turned over to the poor". Bet I'm not alone in that.
