“It holds bountiful oil, gas, minerals & fish. And it promises to shorten global shipping routes”.

Well hallelujah, collapsing Arctic ice sheet will allow full-scale looting of one of world’s last remaining pristine landscapes.

Capitalism (and media) looks increasingly like a global death cult.

Inadvertently, this is an incredible illustration of how

(a) the infrastructure required for fossil fuel extraction is bonkers and

(b) how we don't consider our oil and gas to be 'destroying nature' like wind turbines simply bc it's undersea

There is a narrative that there is a "they" that did this (government, big business) but there is also an "us" doing this. Driving from our oil heated houses to pick up a breakfast roll in a sports utility vehicle while we choose where to fly for the best beach holiday.
The worst case scenario is a fine of over €26 billion - the equivalent of 11 National Children’s Hospitals given that the final cost of that project is forecast to come in at around €2.3bn.

I've quoted this passage from Trump -- where he states his intent to cause riots and US economic collapse -- so many times. He flat-out announced it on Fox News in February 2014. In my book HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT I quote my own 2016 essay warning of his plan:

I have to strongly recommend the See it, Say it app. A few weeks back, I reported a pollution incident late morning, and by 5pm I had gotten an email report from the local Environment Officer to tell me they'd been on site, remedial works were carried out and enforcement action begun.

Seconded.
I'm convinced that addressing remote work would be a useful tool in tackling the homelessness crisis. If we're forcing people into a handful of cities we're missing out on opportunities to revitalise towns and villages beyond the commuter belts. #DerelictIreland #spéirgorm
