Draghi has a lot to answer for. “Competitiveness” is a siren song that in practice means kowtowing to giant corporates.
The EU Commission’s obsession with 'competitiveness' is opening the door to aggressive Big Tech lobbying.

The Code of Practice is only among the first casualties of this single-minded focus on deregulation.

✋ With fundamental rights on the line, the Commission should urgently change course.

Big Tech companies are using the Big Oil playbook: competing in some areas, but when it comes to pushing back against government rules — collaborating, co-ordinating.
The Code of Practice is at risk of being watered down.

Documents show how Microsoft and Google closely coordinated a successful lobby push to remove “large-scale, illegal discrimination” from the list of systemic risks

The EU is developing a Code of Practice to govern general purpose AI, as part of the implementation of the AI Act. But Big Tech has heavily influenced the process to successfully weaken the Code.

Europeans' belief in the importance of the EU has surged to record levels, according to a survey released yesterday.

74% now say their country benefits from being in 🇪🇺 - up from 50% in 2010. And the biggest reason is about security, *not* the economy.

EU vs. US or People vs. Billionaires?
