I believe that humans are wired for a certain amount of unhappiness, and we don’t experience it organically, we’ll invent it.

The other way to look at this $211M figure, is that the US has managed a 4X return on taking down an important geopolitical rival.
More than that, really, if you consider downstream effects like talent drain.
Too bad we’re likely to give up before the job is done…
