Two teens protesting for Gaza aid were dragged into the Egyptian UN building and beaten with chains. They were then arrested by NYPD, though they were the ones attacked and acted in self defense. The men at the UN said they were following Egyptian orders to grab protesters and physically detain

I’ve been watching some organizers who have been helping with St. Louis tornado relief at Enright and Union nearly every day. This week, they’ve asked for accountability from the mayor. The mayor offered no solutions and frankly what sounds like a lot of hostility.

I was at a swim meet with all 5 of my children, but when an unknown number calls me I do my best to answer right now. Cara did not ask me if this was a good time to talk, instead she immediately jumped into what I can only call a combative, defensive and unproductive conversation. I've taken the last 24 hours to reflect on the conversation, and hoped that there would be further communication to clear the air (there has not been). During our conversation, the Mayor seemed to be very disturbed by the accusations I made regarding trash and debris removal on the north and south sides of Delmar. She denies differences in treatment have occurred, and denied that at least 4 private streets have been cleared of tree debris (she says it was 1). The Mayor, in my opinion, is out of touch with the reality of her ground operations post tornado. Big, lofty political statements cannot hide the truth occurring on our streets. I invited the Mayor, several times, to come walk the streets with me and see our truth. She declined. She told me has walked Enright once. Unfortunately, one walk doesn't equate action. The Mayor never asked me to explain what l've done, what I've seen, or what I plan to keep doing. It was (continued) very clear she is not a fan of my work. She explained that their goal post tornado was resources sent to Fountain Park and the Ville. My understanding is that Academy was looped in with the Central West End because of the shared zip code, and therefore, resources went North. When I asked "what do I tell my neighbors and friends in Academy on why they were overlooked?", the answer, after a 30 second pause, was "I don't have an answer for you right now". It's been 46 days since the storm. You should absolutely have an answer by now. l asked her, in an effort to partner with her, if she could outline what she HAS done for Enright and what she plans to do so that I could share this with residents. She declined. The conversation lasted 18 minutes. There was no offer for any solutions or any new aid. It was by far the worst conversation I've had with anyone in almost 8 weeks. I know that by sharing this, I may upset those who support Cara. I am not saying to not do that. I am sharing my experience. So that people continue to join me, hear me. The city is not going to do the work for us, that has never been more evident to me. If the Mavor is so flustered by an unpaid stay at home mom, a full time volunteer with no political affiliations, I cannot imagine how she speaks to those who actually question her decisions. After the call, I was in tears. In that moment, a group of 3 middle school girls from our pool came up and handed me $700 in cash and a bracelet they had made for me. All for tornado relief. Crying, I told them "please know you can be the change, you never have to wait on someone else to make things better". That $700 is more money than the city has given any of my friends on Enright. I will end with this. This is my truth, my experiences. Come volunteer this Sunday with me and see your own experiences. As I told the Mayor on the phone, I am one of the most passionate people you will ever meet about the city of St. Louis. And I am not afraid to keep working to make things right. I am not afraid to fight. I told myself that if I was going to take up space at the mic, I would ask for one specific action item that I could hold the city accountable for. My inner rage was fuming from sitting in a room full of residents and neighbors that have been sorely neglected by our city for generations. But if I could ask for one thing, just one thing, I could continue to be a resounding voice for change if this thing was ignored. So l asked for debris removal (trees and dumpster support). A basic human right to have their waste removed. We are almost 8 weeks post storm and we have so many residences paused on May 16th because their basic human needs are not being met. As calmly as I could, I explained the difference in how basic human needs are being met on one side of Delmar versus the other. I am straddling the Delmar division every day. And if I am going to stand in front of our Mayor, she needs to know the disparity being played out. Even for something that seems as simple as debris. Today, I gathered a list of addresses in Academy that need dumpster and tree removal support. I have given the city officials until Friday for an update. I recognize Friday is a holiday. But for many of us, we do not have the luxury of living in celebration mode right now. I will put the full list of what I asked for in my stories. If the city can provide me with these services I will continue to work endlessly to get crews of volunteers there to do the work. The next big volunteer day is this Sunday, July 6th. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has been arrested by the DOJ after Members of Congress (apparently being shoved by agents) attempted to include him on a visit.

Baraka has opposed the facility, saying it opened without permits.
