Halloween began as Samhain in Ireland, when the veil between this world and the "otherworld" thinned. In Co. Roscommon, this cave 👇 called Uaimh na gCat was said to open on Samhain allowing the spirits to walk freely among the living. 👻

Did you know that a group of owls is called a “parliament of owls”? Some argue this name derives from owls being associated with wisdom. Others argue, perhaps less charitably, that it is because owls rarely meet in groups - and historically, parliaments were rare, too. 🦉
