Take the plunge! Start with one of the cheaper rework stations, that's what I did. It pays for itself after a while and it's really empowering to know you can fix these things. The basics of microsoldering are not that hard, they just need some practice to get repeatable results.

JoyCon and Pro controllers both use potentiometer sticks but they are very different in design. Pots are definitely more prone to drift than Hall or TMR but the low-profile JoyCon pots in particular seem to suffer from a serious design flaw. It’ll be interesting to see if the design changes and how
