Back in July I tried out NixOS, and have been daily driving it since.

Here's a weird reason you don't want to store your config in /etc/nixos if you're using home-manager.

sewer56.dev/blog/2025/11...

tl;dr `nix shell` will cause your configs to disappear because /etc/nixos is not remapped.

How does ROLLBACK NETCODE work, why is it so difficult to program, and why is it the gold standard for fighting games? A whirlwind tour of different solutions #pixelart #gamedev #AnimationVERSUS

The setup: you have a video game with couch co-op and want to add online multiplayer. Easy, right...?

Unfortunately, servers are too expensive for starving indie devs (e.g. Nintendo), so it's worth exploring other options.

Here's how this setup looks like for reference.

I do work from here (remotely), and my non-work code stuff right after.

Maybe I'll game on this one day 😅, I'm always coding soooo much; ahahaha, so often that's a pipe dream!

Oh and I'll eventually need some wall decor that's not certificates.

Single feed's probably overrated anyway, don't want to mix memes with IRL images when you're showing your family.

Or it could be 'cope' from my end, who knows :v
Is there a *gallery app* that can just give me one feed?
Well, I couldn't find one 😅.

In the end, after hours, I just decided to do it the oldschool way. Sort files into folders and access them by category.

And bisync all non-screenshots for stock gallery app / offline access.

Question of the day: Is there no good way to view photos/videos remotely on Android? Notes in thread.

My setup:

pCloud <-> NAS (Home) <-- PC / Phone

When in my house I NAS via FTP/NFS; when outside I talk with pCloud, which is bisynced with NAS (local RasPi 4B, rclone bisync, 5 min cron job).

Ended up getting the Kanto Ora speakers.
Really happy with those on the other hand, work like gold.

Monitor needed a small raise, due to height with stand, but it works out.
bsky.app/profile/sewe...

In the end I refunded the speaker, and bought a regular set of speakers; as god intended.

If I ever need anything 'more', I'd wire up to a wiim pro-like device, so I can get both a good DAC and the 'smart' stuff at the same time.
bsky.app/profile/sewe...

And to endlessly keep adding insult to injury. I can't even get a good listening experience with Tidal. You can't 'Tidal Connect' to the device from PC or Web for some reason.

Not via Sonos or via Alexa (US Only?).

Spotify works well, but it's 320Kbit/s limited. Bleh!

To be fair, a Big Rigs tier solution for Big Rigs is as Big Rigs as it Big RIgs.
I can't believe what I'm seeing

Big Rigs' launcher had uncapped FPS and used 100% of the GPU, so they pushed a patch to fix it...

...by bundling DXVK and configuring it to limit to 30 FPS

I'm sorry if the publisher is reading this rn but this is too funny

USB-C? Turns out USB-C to USB-C is a no go.

Line-In Adapter? So I have to do DAC on the motherboard to do ADC at the adapter again, unnecessary loss in quality. Stupid.

So many ways to pass audio, but no decent one for lossless output from PC.

I'm so disappointed 🥲.
So tempted to return.

Living beside a motorway without a noise barrier isn't very good either 😅. It's a trade-off between constant car noise vs unventilated room.
In order to stop using headphones as much (earwax), I bought a Sonos Era 100 speaker.

Speaker is good, but damn I wish I could use it... as a speaker.

20 million ways to play audio and NOT A SINGLE GOOD ONE for your PC.

It's 2025 and we can't transfer a mere 1.4Mbit/s for lossless CD audio?????
