I left myself with no Option but to try Option Tuning Car Battle Spec R 🥁

Pleasantly surprised by the first impressions! The game supports NeGcon Rumble (so I have modern controls), handles unexpectedly well, has a damage model and serviceable car models!

Some time ago, I submitted an off-hand change at work, as I recognized a pattern similar to "uptime issues" I'd fix in my patches.

Now, it turned out to be a "godly fix" that fixed an actual float precision issue that made the CPUs spin instead of sleeping, saving CPU time.

As it turns out, King of the Road broke at least one graphical effect that worked in Hard Truck 2: a bridge in North Harbor used to be illuminated, but in the latest version of the game, lights just show as black dots. D2GI now fixes the effect and makes it scale to resolution!

Screamer is shaping up to be one of the more unique racing games in recent memory, at this rate I'm genuinely looking forward to it. Will be there on (or before) launch!

This is a rendered panorama stretched onto a semi-cylinder. It's possible to add fully 3D models of interiors to the game, but due to the flat shading, they look very bad.

Rally Edge is so quick on Deck I can't even check the actual framerate, as forcing VSync off doesn't work, and in-game the highest FPS cap I can select is 144 😅

Fun fact - this function is responsible for force-updating the terrain data in the Greystone area, and is intended to hide the fact that otherwise the terrain will progressively morph. This effect is not hidden when looking around in the interior cam, so you can see this effect.
