Came up with a new word: Magatism. Defined as the act of being attracted to really horrible ideas.

Pigs are amazing, intelligent, social creatures. It's really unfair for them to be maligned by comparisons to low-level life forms.

We need to change the definition of what constitutes monopolies and at what point industry consolidation poses a substantial threat to Americans.
Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

Another reason to boycott Conde Nast.
New: Conde Nast fired four employees who were among a group that confronted the company's head of human resources on Wednesday over the decision to fold Teen Vogue into Vogue/recent cuts. Employees who were fired included journalists from the New Yorker, Wired, and Bon Appétit.

Pundits often say that off-year elections are unique things & you wanna be careful drawing conclusions from them. BUT pair these staggering numbers with how young men 18-29 voted, and it's pretty clear young voters are stepping into their power. And they have something to say.
WOW. 81% of women 18-29 voted for Mamdani, 80% for Sherril, and 78% for Spanberger.

Gen Z women aren't playing around.

If I lived in NYC I'd have voted Zohran today. But today is still election day in my small town (mayor, city council, board of review), and you best believe I got out to vote!
Well have you?

They were doing some of the best work in political journalism, and there's only reason for a company to make this move. Seems a good reason for folks to unsubscribe, not just from Teen Vogue, but all Condé Nast publications.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Daily reminder: Folks need to get off Tik Tok.
UPDATE:

A TikTok account dedicated to posting racist videos featuring an AI-generated Black woman named “Lakisha” was part of a trend pushing racist disinformation about SNAP benefits

TikTok didn't comment, but the account was removed after our report

No, SNAP Benefits Aren’t Mostly Used by Immigrants
SNAP benefits are set to run out on Saturday. Far-right influencers and extremists are incorrectly claiming that immigrants are the main recipients of food stamps.

Many religious people don't want to be like their saviors, they want their saviors to be like them. Because they're seeking validation, not something to strive for. That's the thought I had this morning as I looked at *gestures broadly to the current state of the world*
